Where Threads of Knowledge Meet Craft

Welcome to the School of Skein - where fiber arts meet thoughtful learning. Join me on a journey to master the craft of spinning, weaving, and more, guided by both ancient traditions and modern techniques. Through hands-on practice and deep dives into the rich history of fiber, we’ll explore the art of creating yarn and textiles with intention and skill. Whether you’re new to the craft or looking to deepen your knowledge, this is a space to grow, experiment, and celebrate the timeless art of spinning threads into stories.

Welcome!

Welcome to the School of Skein - where my lifelong love of fiber arts meets my passion for structured learning. My journey began as a child, watching my grandmother quilt on her vintage Singer and experimenting with cross-stitch, crochet, and costume-making. While I’ve always dabbled in crafting, I’m now diving deeper—not just as a hobbyist, but as a dedicated learner driven to master the art and understand the why behind every stitch.

With a doctorate in education and a background in curriculum design, I’m approaching fiber arts with an intentional, competency-based mindset. My goal is to blend practical skills with the rich history behind each craft, creating a space where learning is messy, rewarding, and rooted in exploration. Whether you’re new to fiber arts or looking to grow your skills, I’m excited to share my successes, struggles, and insights as we learn together - one stitch at a time.
